What We Do
We understand that informing, consulting and negotiating with trade unions and employee representatives is an extremely sensitive, and important aspect of your employee relations strategy.
Akenham’s consultants our highly experienced in collective pay bargaining, negotiating terms and conditions of employment, and managing trade union recognition requests. Some of our clients have asked us to manage their needs from beginning to end, while others have asked us to step in to stalemate situations. Whatever the dynamics we pride ourselves in taking a progressive and collaborating approach to deliver on your expectations.
Akenham will appoint an experienced consultant with a strong background in employee relations and collective bargaining.
Some of our recent experiences are as follows:
- Setting up Joint Consultative arrangements in a Non Unionised enviroment
- Negotiating changes to terms and conditions of employment, and policy in a heavily unionised enviroment
- Implementing a new HR policy framework in a unionised environment
- Managing requests for Voluntary Recognition requests
What We’ve Done
Trade Union recognition
Our consultants have managed a voluntary request for Trade Union recognition from employees of a European logistics business. The employer was guided through all mandatory steps in the recognition process and our consultants managed the relationship between ACAS and the union in question from start to finish. Positive relations were maintained as we negotiated an appropriate agreement for the business in a timely manner.
Collective bargaining
Our consultants have recently partnered with a heavily unionised manufacturing multi-national. The remit was two fold: firstly, to lead negotiations and secure an under budget pay deal based on CPI forecasts, and secondly, to consult and negotiate with the union on the implementation of an HR Policy framework containing 10 new policies. Both objectives were achieved and managed in full by our consultants allowing the business to focus on other key initiatives.
