What We’ve Done
Investigating business arrangements for parent company
Akenham recently conducted an in-depth investigation for a holding company. The investigation centred around an acquired shareholding and more specifically the business arrangements and conduct of a senior employee.
As a consequence of the investigation the parent company put new safeguards in place to ensure the sound management of the business and restructured the management of the company. The senior employee left the business through a compromise agreement.
Grievance investigation for national company
Akenham were appointed to conduct a grievance investigation by a national company. An employee of the company had been prosecuted for drink driving and cited that his director had spiked his drink and told him to drive home.
Akenham investigated the situation and found evidence to the contrary.
The grievance was not upheld.
Ian Mather who was advising the company said: “Akenham did a first class job. The investigation was handled with calm professionalism. They got to the heart of the matter quickly and delivered an excellent report on time and on budget.”
Constructive dismissal and discrimination at telecoms company
A senior employee claimed that she had been demoted and then forced out of her job after reducing her hours to accommodate the needs of a disabled child.
The employee claimed constructive dismissal, sex discrimination and disability discrimination.
An investigation conducted by Akenham showed that the employee was not forced out of her role but moved voluntarily. The evidence also showed that she was not demoted.
The evidence proved that the employee had not been treated differently to male colleagues as she alleged and there was no case to answer.
